Amy Pearson Executive Director
Amy is a writer, teacher and environmental advocate. She brings experience working for the Park and Forest Services in diverse roles as a naturalist, trail laborer, backcountry volunteer coordinator, and fire lookout. She has worked in non-profit community outreach for Wilderness in northwest MT, and served as board president for the Flathead chapter of Wild Montana. Amy brings strong skills in team building, passion for promoting and engaging with environmental issues, and a creative capacity to problem solve in the moment. She grew up on a farm in northcentral MT and has a Ph.D. in organizational communication from Arizona State University. She loves all things outdoors, but particularly backpacking.
Ben Palmer Field Crew Member
Ben was born and raised in Montana, graduating from Troy High School in 2006. He left the state to study music, eventually returning to study environmental resource conservation at the University of Montana. He finds himself most content in the forest, which inspires his passions for conservation, art, and natural illustration. New to the Yaak Valley Forest Council, Ben is looking forward to doing good work in the forest he grew up in.
